My bad. It has been a while since I blogged. But I’m back! It has been an interesting year so far, with lots of life-changing things happening in my own life (like my son preparing to go off to college), and a lot of both new and established clients working hard. How do I know? Lots of complaints about being “good sore” — that’s when I know we are on the right track!
First, I want to share with you that we have already outgrown the exclusive little space I’ve had on the corner and I’m looking to move again — this time not far away. I will keep you posted on when that happens. Pretty excited that we are growing in good ways, but I promise I will continue to keep my workout studio an intimate place and never turn it into a gym .
We have added a new trainer to help out not only to help make my life more sane, but also because of the specialties she brings with her. Yolanda comes to us with a certification from the American College of Sports Medicine. While she has been physically active all her life and participated in high school sports, her passion for fitness found her earning a degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Nutrition and embarking in a career that has included cardiac rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation counseling, and wellness coaching. Personal training is a recent addition to her skill set, with the desire in mind to help others achieve their fitness goals. Whether it’s shedding fat, getting toned, preparing to run a marathon or simply getting a post-pregnant body back into shape, Yolanda is your girl. She hopes to someday introduce her newest specialty (Cancer Exercise Training Certification) to those affected by the disease. Having had friends and relatives survive cancer, she made it her business to learn to teach survivors not only how to work out, but also to understand how the disease changes the body both physically and emotionally. In addition, Yolanda is big on helping the aging population reach their goals, having received a certification from the Functional Aging Institute.
So what is it you’re looking for? Fat loss? Muscle gain? Both? If there is anything about your fitness goals we haven’t discussed, it’s important for me to know them as we journey down this road together. In the meantime, happy mid-year! Stay cool out there, but don’t forget to sweat once in a while….
